I'd like to form a joint party with TCO-E to gather some Crokite for the Zydrine that can be found in it.

Im not sure where it spawns but Im sure that between all of us we can find a spot and grab some. I would like to grab 5k Zydrine for myself which is about 2,000 units of Crokite. If we find a spot and manage to gather some it is hugely profitable.

I could also go for:
Crokite 2k units
Gneiss 15k
Dark Ochre 10k
Bistot 6k
Arkanor 4k

I need about 2k for a Manufacturing job I have planned and the rest to store for a later build.

Zydrine sells for about 4,300ipu so a quick trip could be very profitable for any that go. The problem is I think it only spawns in low sec areas so we would need a nice quiet place for an in and out mission.

If I mine the 2k Zydrine I need it takes almost 10mil off my build price. I have all the other needed minerals, just need the Zydrine.

I also need about 2k Zydrine so if some could be gathered for me I'd be grateful. It's a bit expensive putting out buy orders for 4k IPU!!!

Umm... isn't that located in low security space?

I think that's what he said.

What would it take for us to go into low sec space? We're probably a long ways away from amassing an armada.

That can be arranged, but I'd hate to think we will never be able to get there. If we all had battleships/dreadnaughts armed to the teeth, would it be possible?

Yes. But I'm nowhere near that point yet. My ships are slow, have little to no defenses, and I have crap for combat skills. It'd be suicide for me.

Well there are really 4 options.

Safest Option: Buy the ore you need with buy orders.

Most cost effective Safe Option: Negotiate with a corp who has a low sec space for a mining passport to allow us to take a crew into the right zone to mine.

Daring Option: Sneak a crew deep into low sec where systems are not patrolled often and hope no one catches us. (If caught in low sec chances of survival are slim to none. Plus since we'd be mining they will certainly pod kill everyone too.)

Insane Option: Gear up for mining and combat and in force. Go into low sec and mine ore. Fight anyone who tries to stop us. (This option not only has the virtue of getting every one of us pod killed, but is also highly likely to get the corp(s) we fight to declare war on our corps and come hunt us in high sec in suicide frigates)

I'll take Option A for 5000, Alex.

No...no, wait. The insane option does have its merits...I just need to spend the next 146 years travelling across one system without warping to figure them out

How low a sec system do we have to go to?

Low security doesn't necessarily mean instant death.

Well to get all the various ores you basicly need to hit a 0.1 or 0.0 system.
Plus you will need deep core mining lasers for some of the really rare stuff.

But mining in any low sec from .4 on down is basicly asking to be killed. There are no low sec systems connected directly to high sec that are not owned by some PKing player corp. You usually have to jump several systems into low sec just to find one that might not be patrolled but every few hours and you would have to jumps dozens of systems into low sec (And survive the trip) to find systems not patrolled daily.

You can often move thru .4 and .3 systems from gate to gate or gate to station without trouble. Sometimes even .2 and .1 systems are navgatable in this way. But the moment you enter an asteroid belt in low sec you are no longer protected by CONCORD and players who catch you there will kill you or call in people who will kill you.

If you get lucky you get a warning to leave first.

hmmm that is kinda what I thought. Kinda sucks to spend 10mil on 2k of needed minerals but there may be no other way. I've heard rumors of regions where the sell price is lower so I'll scout those out.

Oh there is a 5th option

Loot.

Loot contains various resources of all types. Go on enough missions (Like hundreds) and you might collect enough stuff to reprocess for the stuff you need.

6th option...

Look up what minerals come from reprocessing items, then buy those and reprocess them... might be a bit more expensive, but probably save a ton of time.

I like option 2.
Find (that might be the hard part) an experienced corp that is sympathetic to noob corps.

I think that Taka allready has tracked down a corp in low sec that, for 50 million ISK a week, will grant access for mining. They set the corp to friendly so no one bothers us and provide protection from players that might try to attack us. I think we are still on our own with the rats tho which can be in battleships in low sec sometimes.

Problem is I don't know.....
1. If they will allow both corps for 50 million.
2. How many systems that buys us access to.
3. How many other people will be permitted to mine in those systems as well.
4. What security rating the system(s) are.
5. How many belts will be available to us in the system(s) allowed.

But it may be a viable option for low sec mining. If it's turns out to be profitable enough we might consider a permanent mining contract with these guys.

But like I said. There is much I don't yet know.

Holy... 50mil/wk

Anyone do calcs on what profit that'd leave for us?

Also its important not just to get their 'permission' (not like they'd be the only ones there) but to get their protection as well.

Is there anything in the ISS systems worth mining? Seeing as they state they provide neutrality to all, would it be worth seeing if we can set up some sort of mining contract with them? Either in terms of mining resources in their space or having them mine for us and provide protection while we or someone else does the delivery.

Deak, on the joint omber missions we make about 30mil before the split between TCO and Avian. Omber sells for 100-150ipu. Zydrine sells for 3-4000ipu. On a good night we could make 100's of millions. If we can confirm a bountiful field(s) 50mil could be very possible and affordable.

XP, I've been chatting with both ISS and Oberon (16P-Px). Both provide protection for people within their alliances. Alliances take 1billion isk to join and then usually have monthly fees based on the number of people the that corp.

The probelm is Oberon, for example, is 95jumps away and deep in low sec territory. We would have to make a perminant move to low-sec for either of those alliances to work. Personally, I think we are a few months off form that kind of thinking.

I think we need to find a border Corp or Alliance that we can pay for mining and travel rights. If we get the right group it could open up entire areas for -relatively- safe travel and mining minus the low sec rats.
