Today I was wanting to pick up some honor for Cymon. My alts have a few points, but my main had/has no honor.

However as I travled all over the world, I found that all I ended up doing is waste my time. So I wanted to see where you guys are racking up the points. Are there any prime locations where the factions are battleing?

Been trying Tarren Mill but i really need to find a better place. Easy to get up the points it seems, jsut AOE, AOE and AOe some more. With my lag, i go about 10 sec sometimes much more until i know if i killed someone or even shot. I some what feel bad for melee classes in this, as i can aviod huge groups. But my warrior has to be in the thick of it and well i just lag to death before i even get close

Guessing until Battefields or something comes out, This is how it is going to be. SS/TM, Crossroads/Ash, and Refuse point and the other horde town there is problay where most Pvp battles would occurs as the horde town and allaince towns are pretty close to each other

I have no honor points...

I will only get them if someone crosses my path...

Not really worried about it

I believe you only get points if you kill an NPC within a 5 level radius of yours.

Incorrect. NPC do not give honor unless they are strategic targets such as the leaders of the races of the opposite faction. I killed Horde guards all day that were lvl 45 ( me=lvl 47) while I was looking for players to hunt... you get no honor for pvp enabling NPCs unless they are a strategic targets (IF king).

You get honor from killing Players.
bliz wrote:
At this point, the way we determine whether your opponent counts as an Honorable Kill works similarly to how we determine whether you will get experience from a monster. If you would get experience for killing a monster of the same level as the opposing player (i.e. their level number is not colored gray to you), then you'll get an Honorable Kill.

bliz wrote:
For example, imagine that an enemy player is killed by two other players. Player A was solo and did 35% of the damage, while player B was in a group and did 65% of the damage. Player A would get 35% of the honor from the kill, and Player B's party would get 65% of the honor. That honor would then have a group honor bonus applied to it before being divided amongst the group. Rest assured that even players that did not engage the enemy player (perhaps because they were healing instead of fighting) will get honor points; as long as you are in a group that helped kill an opposing player, you'll get honor

bliz wrote:
We also add a bonus to your score for participation in strategic objectives, such as conquering a Battleground or killing an enemy NPC leader, such as Thrall or King Bronzebeard. The exact number of strategic leaders has yet to be determined, but at the least, the four racial leaders for the Horde and Alliance will count as strategic objectives. For those out to kill the human leader, keep in mind that neither King Anduin nor Jaina actually qualifies as a strategic objective; it's the king's protector, Highlord Bolvar Fordragon, who is the true leader you must kill in order to gain bonus honor points for your faction.

I racked up a whopping two points near Tarren Mill today, tossing dots and stuff on whatever passed by. Didn't have nearly the same lag problems as Easton complains about though, even the few times when I was in the middle of a horde zerg (lasted about 3 seconds in there...). Sure, I felt the lag, but it was far from unplayable and I had pretty smooth gameplay without freeze-ups.

How much memory do you have Easton? I'm guessing that has a lot to do with lag in heavily populated areas, at least one gig seems to be the minimum for decent playability.

It's an almost never ending war between South Shore and Tarren Mill. I racked up 40 kills tonight just throwing dots around and AoEing.

Picked up 8 kills in about 20 minutes at TM last night... Grym was there, he of course had 16 kills, hehe...

I thought I was really smart with my AOE'ing lots of targets to try and rack up points, until I somehow managed to pull about 8 of the death guards agro onto myself and everyone else ran away... that sucked, hehe..

Got one DK from some poor civilian when he walked past and I multi-shot.. damn thing critted and killed the bastard....

Number of kills means nothing.

Points are what give you rank... kills are merely a counter...

You could have 500 kills, but only have 25 pts because you were AOE'ing mass groups, but not dealing a majority of damage to a target...

People REALLY need to read the PVP info on the WoW website...

The mass raids on NPC towns does NOTHING for your rank...

Ranks are tallied at the end of the week, and it is a ratio as to what everyone else is doing as well...

The raid groups do nothing at all then, if it makes nothing at all if you "group" was to kill a player and all you did was to heal them

Mantison is correct.

Raid groups are different than normal groups. If you are in a normal group, your group gets honor points split amongst the whole group. You could heal 100% of the time and get the same honor points as the warrior or mage. If you are in a Rade group, your group needs to do damage or the other group in the raid will get most of the honor leaving your group with a small amount to split.

If you are just AOEing everywhere and you are solo or not in a group that is doing much damage, You will have lots of kills in your honor tab, but each of those kills will be relatively honor poor unless your group did the most damage to the target.

Many people are thinking the # of kills is a direct relation to the amount of honor you will receive at the end of the week. That is not true, D and I may get more honor from killing 2 Players than you may get for AOEing 10 players. It all depends on how much damage your group did towards the enemies death.

Everyone that participates in player-versus-player combat from the time it is patched into the game until the contest ends on May 24th will have a chance to win prizes ranging from nVidia graphics cards to free WoW gametime. The higher your ranking in the Honor System on May 24th, the better your chances of winning - but anyone that participates has an opportunity to win something. Here are the number of 'virtual tickets' (each ticket is a chance to win) that you receive for each rank you advance in the honor system:

Tarren Mill is bad about this, everytime I take small trip there (either on my Troll or Human) the place is over run with Alliance that are doing nothing but killing NPCs. Even if there are some Horde hanging around they're mostly too low of a level to fight back, and this skirmish goes on forever! There may be times when the Horde takes a trip there to fight back for a while...but they're usually preoccupied at the CrossRoads or being attacked at Ogrimmar.

Anyone seen the the ratio of Alliance vs. Horde players on Dalaran? From what I can tell in my in game adventures Alliance seems to be fairly dominant but not sure by how much.

All horde characters hang out in XR now. All they have to do is defend for their HKs now since the alliance comes to them.

My first PvP experience in TM was AWESOME.

Once I get this whole thing figured out it should be interesting.
