http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7817392/ Quote: A franchise as storied as this was bound to have its letdowns, and "Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided" certainly fell into that category — particularly when it was first released in 2003.
The massively multiplayer online game looked great but lacked the feel of a dynamic universe. And whether it was intentional or not, becoming a Jedi was nigh impossible, short of quitting your real life job and devoting all waking hours to the pursuit. "Galaxies" has improved over time, with last fall's "Jump to Lightspeed" expansion pack finally letting players pilot space ships. Another expansion, "Rage of the Wookiees" adds content from the forthcoming movie. Be aware that a vocal group of players are upset with recent changes to the game's combat system, so much so they've petitioned the game makers to change it back. |

must be talking about the anti-CU petition of 15,000+ going on atm. its reference is pasted to every forum on SWG websites across the net. -especially the pay subscription sites. these are where the powergamers are p.o'd the most. most people think its only going to be ingnored by SOE. but if the out cry petition is making news, then this is an issue that may develop into something interesting to see. especially if it does attract SOE's attention. i smell a compromise if SOE does pay attention. CU may stay, but tons of patching will come to make changes that people dont like about it. everyone has thier wish list of improvements to CU. im sure we will see those coming in the future... the tweeking to the product will continue |

SOE will pay no attention until people start cancelling accounts. |

Smed already responded.Credit to the petition for getting Smed to actually acknowledge the existence of SWG, but other than that it's pointless. |

oh the account cancelling seems to be in droves now. you can tell by the desolate populations around the game and all the 'leaving game' sales. only types of players that seem to be around anymore are... - the noobs in places like bestine that just picked up the game - the die hard powergamers that are so close to making jedi they can taste it (and at least want to get there before they leave the game) - the 300+ jedis that hang out in dant with nothing else to do but parade around in public cause they have to much time and effort put in to walk away just yet - Erime S'erolf who is still toying with all the changes to the game, enjoying nights of drunken debauchry and buying expensive pimp suits ![]() |

That was a good post by smed. The First response was actually pretty week. I agree that the Combat Upgrade shouldn't have been rushed, and they should have given time to take more feedback before rolling it out, however I also believe that the changes made make for a much better game. At least, once they get the Jedi fixed. |
