Post subject:  Hints for Warlock

Anyone got any Warlock-specific hints they'd like to drop here, especially for someone who never beta'd? What talents should I take? What spells are the best, where can you go for cool stuff? etc. etc..

I got up to level 6 today, got my imp and did a number of quests. I trained in First Aid and Cooking. I bought fire-making tools, and was going to start playing around with cooking.

For the professions, it seems you can start them at level 5. I'm planning on Engineering (I'm a gnome)... what would be a good secondary? As a warlock, I can't use metal, so I don't think blacksmith would be best.

Any recommendations for cooking/engineering/first aid advancement?

Thanks.

I guess I just feel unprepared without a 600 page manual of hints.

The warlock is a bit limited until lvl10 when he gets the Voidwalker pet, then it's all uphill from there. If you can't get in good groups, go solo and pick up as many quests as you can for some nice XP and good cash and try killing mobs at or just below your lvl as that goes easier on your mana and health.
When you reach lvl10 you get your Voidwalker and can start doing tougher quests solo or you can group up and do even tougher quests.

Remember that the warlock has pretty good crowd control abilities; with a tanking pet and fear you can keep two mobs occupied while the rest of the group does the killing.

For your second profession, take a gathering profession so you can get raw materials for engineering, it gets expensive if you have to buy it all.

If you get engineering, get mining, else you're dead.
Always start by casting DoT on a mob, then curse, then bolt(s) and then use your weapon. You can pick up the staff abilityto get nice staves !

For cooking, I don't recommend bothering with the flint and wood. Just cook every time you go to town and your inv will thank you.

I have some Warlock hints, but I will need time to write them down. I am heading out of town for 2 days, so I will try to post them when I return.
