Post subject: | Who has the best WoW maps? |
For a decade long WarCraft fan, I have got to be the player with the worst knowledge of the land. In an attempt to develop some form of base knowledge, I have started to study the maps of the land, and familiarize myself with the areas I will most likely start out in. I have seen several map collections at several WoW sites. Some sites are better than others for one reason or another. In this thread I would like to link to the most useful maps for WoW. Please post links to the maps you use the most, or find the most useful. Feel free to explain what you like about your maps, and comment on the maps others provide. Right now I find myself using the maps at WorldofWar.net http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/ and WoWWarcry http://wow.warcry.com/content/atlas/
World of War has the most complete transportation map I have seen so far. Their map for the Eastern Kingdoms is a plethora of information. I like how they have such a complete selection of maps to look at, I do not think any other site has as many cities as World of War does. They are also the only site I have seen with maps listing resource locations. #2 WoW WarCry Wow Warcry has good, clean, large, interactive maps. Lots of information can be found on them via mouse hover, my only disappointment is that now all zones are complete… but the zones that are available seen to have great detail in them. Honorable Mention WoW Valut http://wowvault.ign.com/locations/map-launch.php would get honorable mention in my book. I started out using it a lot, but over time I have found WarCry and World of War to have better map offerings. The main thing that impresses me at the Vault is their map of Stormwind. Too bad the other cities are not mapped out yet. They also try to show the transportation routs but I find their listing to me largely incomplete at this time. Please post links to the maps you use the most, or find the most useful. Feel free to explain what you like about your maps, and comment on the maps others provide. |

Thanks Cyrus... I had been looking for good maps and Warcry was the best I'd found yet... looks like World of War has more detailed maps that will help me find what I need a bit easier. |

Also, I've been looking for a good guide to weapon trainers. If you come across one let me know. It would be a useful reference for us. I had to search everywhere last night for a staff trainer for my warlock. The NPCs won't guide you to them (yet, I think they may add that later). |

I pulled up this page when searching for Weapon Trainers. http://www.planetwarcraft.com/wow/featu ... ndex.shtml I have not gotten a chance to see how good the information is, at first glance it seems to list the names of trainers.... how to locate them may require additional searching. I will keep looking! |

Being that I have narrowed my first character choice to Human-Warlock, I needed to learn about the regions humans inhabit. I have played every WarCraft game, but my knowledge of its history and lands is extremely poor. In addition to learning everything that I can about Elwynn Forest (the human starting location), I wanted to learn about the bordering regions that I may end up adventuring in. Basically I wanted to learn which regions border each other, and what regions other races start out in. Somehow we Avians will need to find each other, and that can’t happen unless one of us knows how get around. I have also been researching the quests specific to Warlocks. Particularly the quests to obtain my various pets. When researching these quests I run across names of regions and points of interest that I know absolutely nothing about. Therefore I started learning these maps so that I have a better understanding of the where these locations are in relation to my starting location. I am not out to learn all the spoilers, but I would like to start playing WoW with at least a general idea of the lands around me. I have never retained names and locations very well, so I am trying to familiarize myself with the region now, so that it is not a hindrance when it is play time |

Ask your friendly city guard for directions ![]() Trainers train you in their level of expertise, so you need to be at the skill level below the trainer to be able to learn from him. (if the trainer teaches the 150 level, you need to be at the 75 level). If you are just starting a profession, seek out a trainer in one of the major cities. When your skill level rises, the hunt for the right trainer gets more difficult. For a detailed description of the trainers and what skill level you need to learn from them, see the bottom of this post. If the trainer is more than one level above you he will not train you in anything. A Journeyman Trainer will teach you the initial Apprentice tradeskill and the skill 1-75 items an Apprentice can make, so long as you are at least level 5. The higher level trainers won't teach you anything. You can go to the Journeyman Blacksmith in the Dwarf District in Stormwind to learn Apprentice Blacksmith, but the Expert Blacksmith next to him won't talk to you until you have at least skill 50 in Blacksmith. An Expert Trainer will train an Apprentice with skill at least 50 and at least level 10 up to a Journeyman and train the skill 76-150 items a Journeyman can make. An Artisan Trainer will train a Journeyman with skill at least 125 and at least level 20 up to Expert and train the skill 151-225 items an Expert can make. A Master Trainer will train an Expert with skill at least 200 and level at least 35 up to Artisan and train the skill 226-300 items an Artisan can make that do not require a specialty. Master Specialist Trainers teach their specialty, usually after the completion of a quest, and their specialty items to Artisans. Note that most of the basic trainers are not listed, they can normally be found in the major cities. ____________________________________________ Hope this collection of trainers are a help:) this is mostly info i have collected from different forums. I will update them as i see trainers all over the world. Feel free to post here if you discover new trainers or have any additional info on the ones i have posted:) |

Well I know you can go by boat, from booty bay (alliance side) to ratchet (horde side) You used to be able to take a Goblin Zeppelin across the ocean from the Undericty in Azeroth, to Ogrimmar on Kalimdor, but I forget if you can still do that, because I haven't played in the beta in a while. Going to booty bay on the alliance side is hard, because there are alot of tough creatures and it takes a long ass time to run down to the tip of the island; technically you could do it if you stay on the edge of the mountains, away from everything, and if you die, you could land up at the closest town, and just spawn there, goto Booty Bay and take the ship. Going to Ratchet on the Horde side is relatively easy; it's all open barrens, and desert mostly over there with some mountains, so it wouldn't be too hard to get down there. p.s. I do know my way around very well, so when the game is released, if we need to get to where other Avians are, I could definitely lead the way! ![]() |

Yes, you can still do this... this is the fastest way from UC to Orgrimmar |
