How many Avian members are likely to give WoW a try when it comes out? I am asking this to gauge our WoW-Avain guild potential.

At this time I am not sure if I will try WoW when it comes out

You're gonna have to ask me later when WoW release is nearing. SWG is continually improving and I'm just gonna have to see how good it is when its time to decide.

For me, I know WoW will be more combat, and less crafter.... but at least it has a story and you can dance to it... *I hope* It looks to have more reason, more atmosphere.

SWG has no story, no tall tale adventure. In fact I think it is more hack and slash than WoW, at least WoW gives you a story behind it. In SWG you kill for bad loot, and meat. In WoW you kill to achieve some NPC given goal.

I am taking the goal over the bad loot any day. Count me in… and if SWG gets better I may come back to it.

Ill stick with SWG. This is my first MMORPG and I like spending my time here. I do have periods when the game isnt thrilling, but if Im not online for a couple of days I allways get the urge to play.
I love the community and havent (personaly) encountered any "gamebreaking" bugs so far.

Besides, I dont have time to play another MMORPG in addition to SWG. I DO have a RL to nurture too. My friends started to complain about me spending too much time on SWG even before the game went live..... (I was allways lurking on the forums)

The only thing that can lure me away from this game is a forgotten realms MMORPG. I would retire from RL if one of those came out (prefferably with AD&D 2. edition rules)

Well, at least dancing is confirmed

Anyway, I do love the community we built here on the boards (no surprise being the #3 poster ;) ), and I do hope to meet a good portion of this circle of friends in WoW.

It seems alot of forum members seem interested in WoW here as am I, but the two main reasons that I will probably shy away are

1. I'm getting rather tired of fantasy MMORPG's (though many here may be itching to get back into one) after years of EQ and several other name brand fantasy kicks.

2. Most importantly the blizzard community blows! Its community which really makes an MMORPG and blizzard seems to attract a huge loyal following of Teens with 3rd grade educations. The average are of CoH players seems much higher with many adults who were comic book obsessed in their younger years comming to play.

With that said I will still try to grab a copy of WoW in open beta as it looks to be a really great game... so maby I will see a few of you guys there as well.

If there is an open beta I'll probably give it a shot. If I enjoy it then I'll stick with it. However, I'm quite a casual player, and, one thing that eventually turned me off from EQ is that I could never level up with my online friends. I'd be around level 20 or so, they would be up to 40 ... so, we could not do much together ... so, I never got the thrills of "big" game fights just because I didn't have the time. Saying that, I will try WOW and see what the hype is all about :)

If there is an open beta I'll try it, if not probably not. I just dont have the time to to play 2 MMO's and there is so much I still haven't seen or done in SWG that I will be here for awhile.

Guess this is a good ground to grow a "WoW of Avian" guild from.

I will be a Mage who will have lots of skills in enchanting. I think being able to imbue an item with magical properties or uses would be very cool, as well as profitable.

Most likely not...I am here until at least 1 year into the space expansion....and if anything is going to pull me away, it will be another space/science fiction mmorpg where it is possible to make a career as a non-combatant....

I came across a post that talks specifically about the casual gamer. Blizzard understands this market and is currently including content for both the hardcore and casual gamer. I think you will be impressed with the quest and missions for both types of game style.

If the majority of the guild was to quit SWG for WoW I would have to go with them. I will have mastered all the professions by then anyways.

Probably, yes. The bad news is I'd stick to a european server, most likely. Getting online at the right hours for avian hunts has shown me the time difference is too big. :/

That's allright, maybe I'll start another character on the European server to keep you company! :)

I just don't like the graphics...I know that's there style...it just isn't for me. However, I have been getting intrigued with EQ2. I haven't read much, researching much, etc...but a couple trailors, FAQs, and it's lineage have piqued my curiosity...

If I don't love WoW I would definitely try EQ2 but never both at the same time. I'm way to monogamous for that.

I read through this again and I have noticed that people mention that the Blizzard community is more immature than the Star Wars community. Having spent time on both boards I can say without a doubt the blizzard boards have many idiots as do the SW boards. In WoW I did notice a lot of undesirable chatter because I consider it impolite to carry on a conversation on an open channel rather than using tells. I agree with anyone who states THIS is my community and so playing with and forum'ing with people like the ones here is all that really matters regardless of the game.

Not too sure yet. I just got into JTL beta so really want to see how SWG will shape up based on the expansion before committing to a new MMOG.
