Should we start putting this to a vote? Here's a tally of the names that seem to have some interest:

Although we haven't decided to have a Horde guild, it may be a good idea just to vote on a name in case we do decide to create one at launch or in the future. So...

Horde Guild names:

Spectres of Avian
The Clan of Avian
Discord of Avian
Defilers of Avian

Since we haven't talked much about Horde names, suggest more below.

I'd like everyone to state their case for their desired name, even if it's just because it sounds cool. Once we get all the choices out there, I think we should vote on this because Open Beta will be starting soon.



So, personally, my vote would go to either The Sentinels of Avian and The Acolytes of Avian or The Avian Alliance and The Clan of Avian. It'd be really cool if they matched. With the history we've created, it just seems really cool to have these names. We've got a lot of good names though, and the Horde names haven't really been discussed, so please disagree with me or suggest some different names to put to a vote.

I like Sentinels of Avian and Acolytes of Avian.

At this time I am not ready for this vote. I am too pissed at the foot dragging on the forum revamp vote... and I see the guild naming as a needed but lower priority.

I think a subject like this needs to be decided once we have a gov body for the WoW guild. We can not have that until the BoD revamps the charter.

Cant build the roof until the foundation is set.

hmm, very true, and that's just the foundation...gotta actually put up the walls, then the trusses, then you can put on the roof!

I need to remind myself of this regularly.

Avian City name selection went something like this:

-Everyone made their suggestions
-Names were compiled into a single list
-Members posted their top 3 names from that list
-All votes for names were tallied
-The 3 names with the most votes were put in a poll
-Name out of those 3 with most votes was selected

We actually might have of had a few more steps, but that is close to how I believe it was done. Maybe something like that could be done here again, looks like you already have a good list together.

First off, has it been decided on whether we're to have 1 guild or 2? One for the Alliance, and One for the Horde? When will the Horde form their guild if we are to have one for them? We need a leader. I nominate Tobias for WoW chieftain.

I would like to add "The Avengers of Avian" to the Horde name list. It just sounds kind of mean and Hordish, and could fit nicely with our story.

As for Alliance names, I'm liking either:

The Avian Alliance
The Sentinels of Avian

I kind of like the whole Sentinel/Avenger parallel thing...

I don't know... I hope so...

I think we should plan on it with the idea of starting the Alliance guild first and the Horde one when we have enough interest. I plan to have a rather active Horde character, and would like to keep involved with Avian as much as possible.

The story is cool... The story works with 2 guilds. From a PvP perspective it would be cool to have battling guilds. I'm leaning towards a PvE server now (I witnessed some major griefing on PvP server last night), and it would be cool if we had battling guilds on the same server. I think having warring guilds on the same server is pretty unique and may help to make Avian a known name in the WoW universe.

Even though we don't know for sure (although its seems likely we'll have 2 guilds on a PvE server), it doesn't hurt to have a name picked out for if/when we do make a Horde guild.

Also, I like Discord of Avian, but it doesn't match well with the popular Alliance names. Unless we did like, Harmony of Avian and Discord of Avian (that's pretty cool).

Defilers of Avian sounds cool, but it sounds like Avian is a bad thing (defiling Avian).

I've stated in at least 2 other threads, that my choice is for Avian Alliance.

Don't know about the Horde name. Something hideous like "Rancid Meat of Avian" or something would be cool.

When it comes down to it I would like to see a rotation of chieftans so everyone gets a chance to feel the power and responsibility of leadership. It might encourage a few to get involved more actively in the PA leadership as well. Everyone could forgo their turn if they did not have the time or inclination, but everyone would have the chance.

Let's choose one name for now and when we pick not box ourselves into an alliance only name. Mechanics are not set in stone at this point and they may allow multi-faction guilds. For example, no bringers of light, etc.
