I know many here were not fans of the City of Heroes/Villains games, but a few of you played them. I just picked up Champions Online over the weekend to cruise around and be super with some friends. Anyone else playing? I saw a Drakkar ingame and wondered if that was our own ![]() It's a fun game. They're taking an EVE approach and having everyone on one server but with a lot of instancing for areas. It plays a lot like CoX, but much faster and more polished. The biggest improvement is no more endless mission running in sewers, office buildings, and warehouses. I'm not sure how the naming works completely yet, but it looks like everything is based off of your root account name, preceded by the character name. (character@baylor is the syntax I think for me.) So far, I can be found under: Habeas Corpus Bad Company Lumino Dr Test The Six Course Meal Behemoth Girl So many custom power sets to build from, so little time. |

I pondered picking it up but have my hands full with a couple console games atm (Madden 10 and Batman: Arkham Asylum). |

It should be out for the 360 soon. They were going to launch both platforms at the same time, but the 360 took a backseat somewhere along the line. You can plug your Xbox controller into your PC and play Champions however ![]() |

If I read some decent reviews/impressions of the game after it has been out on the PC for a couple months I think I'd give it a go. Superheroes and villians should make for a fun MMO. |

The game mirrors City of Heroes in the sense that it's a "log in and fight" game. It lacks in the social area like it's predecessors did. Having one big server with instances zones makes it difficult to build a community I think, nor does the game require one however. You can easily play solo or with a team mate and access most areas. There's been a couple 5 man dungeons we've had to revisit after leveling a few times. I've got a 28 and a 23 now with a whole bunch of teen leveled characters. About to design my second nemesis which is a really cool aspect to the game. |
