I've been thinking. And yes I know that's a very dangerous thing to do! Here's a scenario: You are a fighter pilot in the year 4000ish. Your fighter is actually a space craft and it's sitting in the hanger of a large carrier. You and your fellow pilots are sitting in the Rec Room. What do you do to pass the time? I ask this because I've been thinking of designs for an MMO, sort of part EVE, part Elite. Based in the world that I'm creating in a novel I'm writing (yes I'm serious about that part!). I wanted two parts to this MMO: the standard RPG, subscription-based part and a sort of jump-in-and-play-no-skills-required part. Now the scenario above is taken from the latter part. The idea being that you log in for a space equivalent of a Quake deathmatch. But, while you're waiting for the carrier to get to the system where the battle is due to take place (the carrier control being done by chars from the MMO part) and while you're waiting for enough players to log in, you sit in the rest area passing the time with the other fighter pilot players. I was thinking of some sort of KotOR Pazaak style card game. Anyone have any ideas? |

A mini-game (like Kazaak) would be cool. Or maybe they could train skills in a flight simulator. |

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/combat-helme ... 260482.php Make him look vaguely like a Mon Cal! Mole, the theory goes that those entering the game as fighter pilots have no in game skills. They either all have generic skills or it's conpletely twitch based (think X-Wing style, except with proper physics!). Anyone fancy inventing a card game? ![]() |

I'd rather say a Gand like Zukuss or 4-LOM A card game... Difficult, but we couold do it. Based on our excisting cards or make up new ones? |

Well presuming that it is our universe 2000 years from now, you could base a possible card game on an excisting one. Something simple like Blackjack perhaps. Make a fancy interface, new cards/images but on the same basic rules. Personally I prefer 500 Rum. Got some math thinking (when putting points together while playing to get the highest possible score) and use of memory (what thrown into the pile). The is a list further down on rules for different card games here Another suggestion would be chess of some sort. A wargame that is with peices representing a figure or an army. This about the hologame in the Millinium Falcon Ep. IV or the three dimentional chess game in Star Trek: The Next Generation. |

Based on our excisting cards or make up new ones? I can't help but comment that 4-LOM is a droid, while Zuckuss is the alien (although maybe Azz knew that and just had weird syntax), since (in other obscure trivia) I used to go by 5-LOM. The helmet does kinda look like both members of the bounty hunting team. That's all information which I coincidentally garnered from a card game, the SWCCG. Anyway, classic recreational activities on ships involve zero-g exercise, especially the co-ed type. Ender's Game style combat training is particularly fun, and could be an interesting tutorial or mini-game to practice 3D movement and targeting and the like for use in the real ships. |
